HOW TO PICK A YONI MASSAGE SPECIALIST

READ HERE the benefits of YONI MASSAGE!

Over the last decade, sessions with yoni massage specialists have become quite trendy. I notice women booking them without any proper research, as if it is a trip to get the nails done. I want all women to know that yoni massage is a VERY BIG DEAL. This bodywork is intimate and sensitive. The field of tantric yoni massage is not regulated, which means that anyone can call themselves a tantric practitioner, healer, or yoni specialist. Do not take your body or your sexuality for granted. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

I want all women to know that yoni massage is a VERY BIG DEAL.

Booking such intimate bodywork requires emotional and mental maturity. Some important pre-requisites include being able to communicate clearly; being able to set personal boundaries; ability to say no, and most importantly, understanding the intention behind receiving such bodywork. Read further to see when NOT to book a session.

Here is my advice to finding a proper yoni specialist:

  • Book a session with a FEMALE practitioner. Even if the male practitioner is a famous qualified expert, many women are not yet ready to work with a male. It can be triggering and unsafe. Trust me on this one, always book with a female. It will save you a lot of emotional confusion and distress.
  • Respect the paid work that yoni professionals do, the same way you would respect a paid session with a doctor. Never go for a FREE session, even if someone offers it to you as a gift. It is a potential sexual trap and a risk for sexual abuse.
  • A good yoni massage session is AT LEAST 3,5 hours long. This gives a client/therapist time for talking and bodywork. Some sessions can run up to 7-8 hours depending on the professional and how they run the sessions. If one pays on average 100 $ for a 1-hour talking session with a therapist, then a good quality yoni massage should cost you around 350$-650$ at least. If a professional is charging less than 300$ for yoni massage, I would question the quality of their work and the length of the session. Remember, cheaper does not mean better. This is not something to be cheap on.
  • Book a session with a practitioner because they are qualified NOT because they are cute or flirted with you. (This happens way too often!) I hear too many stories of good looking men offering free sessions to young women. Real yoni massage professionals do not hang out on dating apps, nightclubs or yoga classes offering their (free) services to women. Unfortunately there are too many creeps in this world. If a specialist is trying to flirt their way into you booking a session with them, it’s a red flag!
  • Check the practitioner’s website and social media. Read their articles or watch their videos to feel more into their vibe and views on sexuality. Do you agree with them? Do they resonate with you? Would you feel safe in their hands?
  • Don’t be shy to reach out by email or phone first and ask a few questions. Remember, there are no silly questions! Share your intentions and your current sexual challenges. Ask the specialist for their qualifications. Where did they study? How long have they been doing this work? A “weekend yoni workshop” or a summer on Koh Phangan island does not qualify someone to do this work!
  • Always ask for an informational booklet about the sessions. How are the sessions run? Is there is a time-limit? Is there after-care? What do you need to bring with you? Is there an intake form for you to fill out?
  • Always discuss safety, boundaries, and consent before bodywork begins. Ideally, there needs to be a consent form available for a signature.
  • Make sure the practitioner leads with at least 30-60 minutes talking before proceeding to the bodywork part of the session. You need to feel a connection and trust with the practitioner. If you do not then leave.
  • Please note that a healing yoni massage is not a happy ending massage nor a sex date. If the practitioner is flirting with you or offering you ‘extra services’, they are crossing professional boundaries. Leave immediately.
  • Make sure the practitioner is FULLY CLOTHED throughout the entire session.
  • In an appropriate yoni session, you should not be asked to nor allowed to touch the therapist’s body parts such as their buttocks, breasts, genitals. The same way you would not touch your physiotherapist or a gynecologist unless for an occasional polite touch of the shoulder/hand to get their attention.
  • A proper yoni session is a one-way touch session, meaning that you as a participant receive touch and the therapist gives touch. The therapist should only touch you with their hands, never their mouth or other body parts.
  • Check for the hygiene of the work studio and personal hygiene of the specialist. Is there a place to take a shower? Does the studio feel fresh and clean? What kind of safety products is the practitioner using? How well-manicured are their hands? Do they use gloves? What kind of body oil do they have?
  • In a professional session, you can leave/stop ANYTIME. Remember that a yoni specialist’s goal is YOUR physical and emotional health. Therefore, they will not take it personally if you decide to cut the session short regardless of your reasons. Do you feel safe with this specialist to stop the session at any moment?
  • Do not allow for any other people to be present in the room during the session unless you personally know them and feel safer with them there. However, if you need a friend to feel safe to go ahead with a session, I would skip the session altogether.

It is important to understand that receiving a yoni massage or any type of psychosexual bodywork from a practitioner is an advanced form of healing. It is not a medical treatment and does not replace advice from a medical doctor. It is not recommended for women that have unresolved emotional or physical health issues.

  • If you are at risk for preterm labor, or your water has broken
  • You are less than 6 months postpartum

  • If you have endometriosis (there is no research evidence that massage heals or alleviates endo pain. proper studies are required.)
  • If you are self-harming
  • If you are bleeding
  • If you are rushed and have no time to have the full session
  • If you are going through a very stressful time in your life (ex. relationship break up, moving homes, chronic disease, changing jobs)
