The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has not only been a success for Disney but also for the acclaimed actor Johnny Depp. However, following his defamation trial against Amber Heard, Depp faced cold shoulder treatment from Disney. Therefore, the actor had been maintaining his distance from the franchise.
Nonetheless, in recent times, it has been reported by sources close to Johnny Depp, that the actor has been eyeing worthy opportunities in association with Disney. Despite the long-drawn absence of a sequel from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, producers have recently sparked discussions and speculations about the possibility of an upcoming film. The rumor thus sparks curiosity regarding Depp’s appearance in the movie.

Disney Prioritizes Pirates of the Caribbean Sequel
After running Disney’s animated film factory for more than a decade, Sean Bailey discussed his intentions of undertaking the remaking operations even more seriously. Realizing that animated classics are treasured by fans, Bailey decided to reimagine the Disney stories with more clarity and less retrograde.
Thus, setting out to execute his plan, Sean Bailey opened up about his decision regarding the highly anticipated Disney franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean. Considering the millions of dollars that the film series earned, Bailey, along with Disney is “seemingly inching the door open” to collaborate with Johnny Depp.
“We think we have a really good, exciting story that honors the films that have come before but also has something new to say,” Sean Bailey shared.
While Bailey treaded low on the return of the franchise’s problematic star, Johnny Depp, he simply reverted, “Noncommittal at this point”. However, fans seem to be excited over the possibility of witnessing Depp reviving his role as Jack Sparrow.

Johnny Depp Is Waiting To Revive Jack Sparrow
Following the New York Times discussion with Sean Bailey, it appears he isn’t the only one looking forward to the remake. According to sources close to Johnny Depp, even the actor is waiting for the right project to revive his infamous character, Jack Sparrow.
Discussing with People, a close source to Johnny Depp mentioned that, while the actor previously felt betrayed by the company, he is still willing to make a potential comeback. Evidently, after the notorious defamation lawsuit, Depp experienced cold shoulder treatment from Disney over his multibillion-dollar Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
“Anything is possible. If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.” the source revealed.
Thus, after months, both Disney and Depp seem to ignite fans’ hopes of witnessing the OG Jack Sparrow in the potential sixth installment of the franchise. Even the saga’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer mentioned his desire to recast Johnny Depp. While working on two scripts, Bruckheimer spoke about Depp’s potential involvement by saying, “Not at this point…but the future is yet to be decided”.
Although there are still conflicting views and opinions, fans longingly seek Johnny Depp’s return as Jack Sparrow in the potential Pirates of the Caribbean sequel.
